CABBAGE TREE BAY CALF

This is an ever-growing body of works based on Cabbage Tree Bay which is an Aquatic Marine Reserve at North Manly beach, Sydney. When in Manly my favorite thing to do (except paint) is snorkel through the sea grasses from Manly to Shelley Beach. It's magical and you can feel your health battery charging with every minute spent under water. This short stretch of ocean evokes so much emotion that one can only attempt to express it in paint. With this particular work I thought about the newborn calf reveling in its new home trying to swim through the moving sun rays. The paint on the surface of this painting dried with a super smooth with a matte patina and is cool to the touch...a pleasant surprise indeed.
