A major study commissioned by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and led by the University of Sydney estimated that nearly 3 billion animals were killed or displaced by the fires in 2019. 3 BILLION SOULS. After a recent back-burning gone wrong, I was thinking about this whilst painting an abstract and the background truned to dusty flames and a Heron seemed to fly out of the canvas!
